Sunlit Heart

An original poem by Jenny Dee

The warmth of the sun falls upon my skin

Balmy, breathless as it goes deeper

Igniting the fuse that keeps faltering

Starting and stopping in spurts

It has yet to catch

To become more than a flicker

And yet in a single moment sitting in the undisturbed presence of power

Bigger than I could ever be yet very much part of me

I feel the catalyst I’ve been waiting for

Light

Not the false fuels I’ve been clinging to

No. They cannot sustain what comes from within

Powered only by the reflective shine that matches my soul

I welcome the essence - The ignition that is true

The beam that turns the power of my heart to full throttle

And welcomes me back to the world
